Lessons from story of Mephibosheth

LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF MEPHIBOSHETH

2nd Samuel 9:1-1
David said, ‘is there any one still left in the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan sake (TNIV)

When we critically looked at the story of Mephibosheth; we can draw out a lots of lessons for our daily living. The Bible declared that, ‘the whole bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realized what is wrong in our
lives; it strengthens us out and help us do what is right. 2Timothy 3:16(Living Bible).

Today we want to consider a great virtue in the life of David, the king of Israel. That virtue is called kindness. Note you can not give what you do not have. If you do it will be very glaring that it is done in pretence. David had that virtue called kindness. What is kindness? Kindness is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22. Kindness is a sign that the Holy Spirit has been able to tampered with our character and has been able to produce in us an outlook and respond to any given situation or person, kindness is a quality of being friendly, generous and being considerate. It is an act manifesting in good deeds towards others. It is an affectionate gesture derived out of love towards people. It involve not only sympathy but empathizing with someone and trying within your capacity to help and alleviates the situation. It is an act of not only being nice (which is mainly a disposition) but showing it with corresponding action. Kindness is an act that stemmed from love 1st Cor.13:4.

David was a man that loves passionately and was full of kindness. This attribute actually attract people to him. Proverbs 19:22A said that kindness makes a man attractive and desirable. That is a food for thought. David kindness causes men to be attracted to him. 2nd Samuel 22:2. This was also the case of Dorcas in Acts 9:36- 40, her kindness cause the people she had helped to make strong case for her and heaven have to command the angel of death to release her. I pray for you especially all of you that have being
showing kindness to people at this critical moment of lockdown due to Covid19 that heaven will arose on your behalf and answer your secret prayers in Jesus name. David said he desired to show kindness to the house of Saul who was hell bent to kill him because of Jonathan his friend. Guess who was qualify for that kindness; Mephibosheth. Someone that was already disqualify by the law by the reason of his infirmity. A lame person is not supposed to appear before the king.
When Ziba the chief servant of Saul house hold was summoned to the presence of the King; his answer was loaded with meaning. Knowing that no lame was supposed to appear before the king according to the law of the king; he gleefully answered that there remained a man in the house of Saul only that he was lame on both legs. However David a typology of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ wave such thing aside and by his statement qualify him that was already disqualified. This is because where ever the word of the king is there is power and authority and no man in that domain can question it. Eccl.8: 4. Today I stand in the power and authority in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who shed His blood and by that blood made me a King and a Priest on to God. Rev.1:6, I command that all those with evil report and information about you will be disgrace while the grace of God will qualify you where you are not qualify. Bless you.
